“We want to reduce risks together with Behaav.”

Patrick de Haan, IT Manager at Condor Group in Hasselt and Genemuiden, explains how Behaav supports the organization in making employees more aware and resilient when it comes to security awareness.

Condor Group, based in Hasselt, produces soft floor coverings including broadloom carpet, carpet tiles, artificial grass and automotive carpets. With six locations across the Netherlands, the company identified a clear challenge in strengthening its information security.

“Incidents and suspicious emails were hardly ever reported.” According to IT Manager Patrick de Haan, that risk is not unique to their organization but common across the industry. “Fortunately, we have not experienced any major incidents ourselves. But within our sector and in the news, you see that 80 to 90 percent of cyberattacks are caused by human error. That is a risk we want to actively reduce.”

Lack of awareness among employees
Within the organization, De Haan noticed that employees were not always vigilant. “Incidents or suspicious emails often went unreported. That concerned us. We wanted to raise awareness and give people practical tools to respond more effectively.” Through an external partner, Condor was introduced to Behaav. It quickly became clear that the approach matched their needs. “What really stood out to us was the level of guidance. The entire security awareness program was managed for us, which immediately gave us confidence.”

“We have strong IT expertise in house, but we lack the behavioral side of security awareness. That is exactly the expertise Behaav brings to the table.”

Behaav designed a tailored program starting with a baseline assessment, including surveys and interviews with departments facing higher security risks. Training sessions and simulations were rolled out, and in depth interviews were conducted with key teams such as finance and administration to gain a clearer understanding of specific vulnerabilities.

As De Haan points out, “We have strong IT expertise in house, but we lack the behavioral side of security awareness. That is exactly the expertise Behaav brings to the table.”

The role of a dedicated program manager

The program is led by Shanice Nicolaas on behalf of Behaav. She oversees progress and ensures clear communication throughout. “What we really appreciate are the biweekly meetings with Shanice. We gain clear insight into our current status, ongoing simulations and next steps. We hardly need to manage it ourselves, which gives us complete peace of mind.”

Measurable impact: from 0 percent to 80 percent

The approach is delivering clear results. “We introduced a button to report suspicious emails. At first it was barely used, but now 70 to 80 percent of employees actively use it. People are more critical when reviewing their inbox and think more consciously about security. That is a real win.”
Behaav also takes departmental differences into account. “Someone working in the office has a different knowledge level than someone on the factory floor. With Behaav, we can create the right mix of e learning, simulations and interactive experiences, so everyone is reached in a way that fits their role.”

Security awareness through repitition and customization

Condor Group aims to achieve even higher engagement and performance levels. “Our goal is full participation across the organization. By introducing monthly themes, repeated interventions and strong management involvement, security awareness is becoming part of everyday behavior. That is how we create lasting behavioral change.” Crisis and phishing simulations further strengthen resilience. “We are better prepared for incidents, reduce the risk of damage and improve our ability to recover quickly.”

Confidence and peace of mind

For Patrick, working with Behaav mainly brings reassurance when it comes to security awareness. “As an IT manager, I know the program keeps moving forward, the right simulations and training sessions are in place, and employees continue to grow in awareness. That gives me confidence. It also helps us future proof the organization.”
